Albert offers a variety of ways to assign practice to your students, depending on their specific practice needs.
Custom Assignment
This pathway allows you to assign practice around specific topics and skills by selecting and assigning questions across multiple standards, topics, units, or even subjects.
Click on the Home tab from the top blue toolbar.
Click on Create New in the top left hand corner, then Assignment.
You are now in the Assignment Builder. Click Add Questions to begin.
To filter for your desired assignment, choose from the various filter options including Standards and Subjects & Topics.
Adjust the Question Difficulty and Question Type filters to meet your practice needs.
To find assignments you've created, click the Home tab, then select Assignments on the left.
Adaptive Practice
Albert Adaptive, available for all users, is a personalized learning tool that automatically adjusts question difficulty to match each student's skill level. You can share Adaptive practice with students for targeted review, skill building, or enrichment.
Find all Adaptive subjects in the "Adaptive Practice" section of the course library.
Directing Adaptive Practice with Skill Paths
Skill Paths let you send specific adaptive skills to students with optional start and due dates. Students see these skills on the Skill Paths tab of their dashboard, prioritized and organized for easy access.
How Skill Paths differ from traditional assignments:
Traditional assignments (Custom Assignments, Pre-Made Assessments) are fixed sets of questions that are graded upon submission.
Adaptive Skill Paths are ongoing practice experiences where students work through proficiency levels (Beginner → Intermediate → Advanced), earn badges, and re-practice skills over time. Progress is guided by start/due dates and visible on the Skill Paths tab.
Re-practicing Adaptive Skills:
Teachers can assign the same adaptive skill multiple times across the year using different Skill Paths with different start dates. This is useful for spiral review or revisiting skills after initial instruction.
Folders
A folder is a set of questions you gather from across topics, units, and subjects. You can assign the whole folder, pick specific questions from it, or use Smart Assign. Build a folder in the Assignment Builder or from within a subject.
Note: Folders are only available when you're in all classes, as folders are not attached to a specific class
Pre-Made Assessments
Albert Assessments are pre-created assessments found in the Assessments tab of a subject. Assessments provide curated practice opportunities that both align to state standards and mimic standardized testing guidelines. Assessment questions will always be hidden from students on Albert until they are assigned.
Subject-Based Assignments
This pathway allows you to select and assign questions within a single topic or unit in any Albert subject. Within your subject, click into the desired topic, select the questions you would like your students to practice, click Assign and Assign your selection. You can filter by difficulty and usage (such as questions you have already assigned) or search by standard.
Smart Assignments
Smart Assign allows you to select how many questions you would like to assign from a given topic or unit, the automatically generates a random selection of questions to assign. Click into the desired topic and click Assign and Smart Assign to set your assignment parameters.
Notes:
Students will all be assigned the same questions. If you want to randomize the question order, you can do so on the Assignment Options page.
If you are using Assignment Builder, the "Quick Add Questions" button offers similar functionality to randomly select questions given the filters selected
