Note: Before you are able to use Brightspace(D2L) with your students, your administrator needs to connect your school’s Brightspace(D2L) account with Albert. Please reach out to your technology specialist to confirm your Albert license is integrated with Brightspace(D2L). Technology specialists can use these directions to learn how to integrate Brightspace(D2L).

  • Students will be able to access Albert automatically with their Brightspace accounts.

How do I import my Brightspace(D2L) roster?

Before importing your Brightspace roster, you must create a module in Brightspace that links to Albert. These steps only need to be completed once per school year.

  1. Log into Brightspace.

  2. Open the course you’d like to import into Albert.

  3. Select Content from the top nav bar.

  4. Create a new module or add an item to an existing module.

    1. Note: You do not need to make this module visible your students.

  5. Click Existing Activities

  6. Select Albert from the drop-down menu.

    1. If you do not that option, select External Learning Tools and then select Albert from the table.

    2. If you cannot find Albert, your school has not connected your Albert integration. Please connect with your school’s technology specialist before moving forward.

  7. After exiting the modal, click on the Albert link in the unpublished module you just created.

  8. Find the Albert class you’d like to import your roster to OR create a new class.

  9. Click Invite Students on the class.

  10. Click Import from LMS.

  11. Confirm the roster information is correct.

  12. Click Import.

  2. Select the Brightspace course you want to assign Albert practice.

  3. Create a new module or add an item to an existing module.

  4. Click Existing Activities

  5. Select Albert from the drop-down menu.

    1. If you do not that option, select External Learning Tools and then:

      1. If you would like to add the Albert assignment URL so students are directed to the specific Assignment, click Create New LTI Link.

        1. Enter the title of your Albert assignment in the Title text box.

        2. Add the Albert assignment URL in the LTI URL text box.

        3. The Tool field should automatically populate as Albert. If it does not, your school has not connected your Albert integration. Please connect with your school’s technology specialist before moving forward.

      2. Otherwise, select Albert from the table and students will be directed to their class dashboards.

    2. If you cannot find Albert, your school has not connected your Albert integration. Please connect with your school’s technology specialist before

How do I sync assignment grades from Albert with Brightspace (D2L)?

Note: Before you can sync assignments and grades from Albert with Brightspace (D2L), your school must configure the integration. Technology specialists can use these directions to learn how to setup a Brightspace (D2L) integration.

Syncing an assignment from Albert with Brightspace(D2L) will create a new line item in your Brightspace(D2L) gradebook. Student results on the Albert assignment will automatically populate in Brightspace(D2L) as your students complete the assignment and explanations in Albert are made available to them. If students have already started an assignment when you sync an assignment, existing published grades will backfill.

Albert assignments that are synced will NOT show up as modules, assignments, or quizzes in Brightspace(D2L) unless teachers manually add them.

To sync an assignment from Albert with your gradebook in Schoology, you must have previously imported your roster from Schoology.

You can sync an assignment by clicking the Sync button from the confirmation page that shows after you create an assignment:

Alternatively, you can sync an assignment by clicking “Sync” next to the assignment from your classroom assignment list:

If you see an info icon instead of a sync button, it is because the class roster was not previously imported from Schoology. Click here to learn how to import a roster from Brightspace(D2L).

If you do not see a sync button or an info icon, it is because your school has not yet configured a Brightspace/D2L integration. Technology specialists can use these directions to learn how to integrate Brightspace/D2L.

What happens when I “re-sync” an assignment?

Re-syncing an assignment will delete the existing gradebook entry in Brightspace/D2L, create a new entry for the assignment, and re-populate any existing grades. If you are encountering any issues with the syncing functionality or made changes in Brightspace(D2L) that you want to revert, re-syncing the assignment can help.

What should I do if I get an error while syncing grades?

To troubleshoot issues with grade syncing, go through these steps:

  1. Re-sync your Albert class roster with Brightspace(D2L). Click here to learn how to re-sync your roster with Brightspace(D2L).

  2. Try syncing or re-syncing the assignment in Albert.
