When creating assignments, teachers have the option to set a time limit for the assignment in the assignment settings.

Once you have created an assignment and selected recipients, you will arrive at the Assignment Options page. Find the Time limit (minutes) box and enter the number of minutes you want your students to have to complete the assignment.

If an assignment is timed, the timer will continue to run even if the student signs out, closes their browser tab or window, or hits the back button on their browser. This is done to combat cheating on timed assignments, so students should be prepared to complete the assignment in one sitting.

If you do not wish to have a timer, simply leave the time limit blank.

Once the timer has expired, teachers cannot reset students' assignments. Removing the timer will allow the assignment to be reset.

Note: When assigning FRQ's with a timer, instruct students to submit their responses prior to the timer running out. If students do not submit prior to the time running out, their responses will not be viewable. If this occurs to one of your students, you can allow the student to resubmit their work by editing the assignment settings to remove the timer and then resetting their assignment status.
